Student commission inspects top convent schools in Shimla

After pouring large number of complaints from the parents of students who were facing wrath of convent and private schools in Shimla town over increasing lists of itineraries, a team of state commission for child right protection headed by its chairperson Kiran Dhanta today visited the famous school Loreto Convent school Tara hall in Shimla town.

 

A media report said today that the State commission for child right protection acting on one complaint made a surprise visit on the complainant. The complaint said that school authorities forced student to bring snacks in school and then use to sale it to other students for Rs 10 and Rs. 20 and also use to organize jam session with a fee of Rs. 20.

 

During the inspection school principal verbally admitted that such things happen but it was not in routine and the school authority do this to generate funds for new building of the school. During the inspection and interaction made by the team today, students also revealed that they were being pressed by the school authorities in past to similar demands irrespective of their parents point of view on the matter.  The team talk to students of school belonged to 6th standard to confirm the complaints.

 

The sources said that Commission strictly warned the school authority not to press the students and parents for such things in future as the school could not take it from them or and raise direct or indirect building fund from them. The other member of  inspection teams were   member education Dr. Roshan Lal, member child labour Smt. Kusum Verma and member juvenile justice Ashutosh Gupta.
