Date extended to opt for digital ration cards in Shimla town

    Himachal Pradesh today announced that people enrolled under public distribution system could opt for digital ration cards as it had extended the date for convenience of people relaxing cumbersome exercise as people have to wait for hours standing in long queue to apply for it.

    A spokesperson of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department said here today that the date for preparation of digitized ration cards in Shimla town has been extended till 27th December, 2015.

    State government also opened assistance center functional at Directorate of the Department and four others in District Controller Food and Civil Supplies in D.C. office complex Shimla to facilitate the consumers.

    Spokesman urged consumers that they have to get their digitized data verified from the concerned fair price shop before applying to it. Due to communication gap people were moving from post to pillar to complete this exercise.

    Information has also been made available on toll free number 1967 and consumer can also know the status of digitized ration cards on departmental website: epds.co.in.
