Mr G.S Bali, Transport Minister has announced that Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to launch CNG fuel based HRTC buses to Rohtang Pass, which is 13050 feet high from 20th July 2015.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the National Green Bench Tribunal had imposed a ban on movement of diesel based vehicles to ecologically fragile Rohtang Pass asking the state to opt for CNG transport to reduce the emission pollutants in the serene environment.

Addressing the media persons here today Mr. Bali said that the state transport has decided to launch CNG buses on a trail basis for Rohtang pass. On 6th July 2015 NGT asked the state government to ban all kinds of tourism activity to Rohtang pass meanwhile the transit bench held here yesterday asked the state government to comply with NGT directions failing to which officers have to face the court contempt.

Mr. Bali also said that HRTC would increase fleet of CNG buses and also look into this aspect to set up CNG filling station at Manali as per the orders of green tribunal passed earlier. And so far the state administration has allowed 1000 vehicles to Rohtang limiting the tourist flow and footfall on the snow pass.
