Paonta Sahib wins coveted HPCA T-20 tournament

Paonta Sahib eleven has won the coveted Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) T-20 tournament defeating Bitta Eleven in a thrilling contest. This final match was played under the floodlights in Dharamshala Cricket Stadium here last evening.

With first such match played under the floodlights in the stadium, Dharmashala Cricket Stadium has become the venue to organize day and night matches, which will also help HPCA in paving the way to organise first one day international in the stadium.

This final match of this first of its kinds tournaments ended with exciting turn of events with  Paonta eleven needing six runs in the final ball of the match againt Bitta Eleven of Una district. Bharat Bhushan of Paonta Sahib hit the last of the match in the stands and secured six runs for his team.

Batting first after winning the toss, Bitta eleven scored the total of 116 runs, with the help of 40 runs by Jarnail Singh. From Paonta Sahib, Bharat Bhushan took two wickets.

This coveted tournament, which started around a month ago, organised by the HPCA is the first of its kinds in the Cricket history of India where about 1000 teams from local levels took part.

The winner of the competition was given the prize of Rs 3 lakhs while the runner got the prize of Rs 2 lakhs. District level winners of the tournament were given the prize of Rs 51000 each.

Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal was the chief guest on the occasion and J.P. Group of Indisturies was the sponsors for the tournament.
