Shimla: Himachal Pradesh University’s executive council (EC) on Saturday decided to fill at least 157 posts of teachers and nearly 300 posts of non-teaching employees. Digging into the decisions of the previous government, the EC also formed a review committee to reopen the case of teachers appointed during the previous BJP regime, who were terminated by the Virbhadra government. The council also asked for the action-taken report on the findings of the CAG report regarding financial misappropriation in the university.
While in the first instance services of two teachers and a university security officer appointed during the BJP regime were terminated on grounds of ineligibility, in the second the university indicted two professors, a deputy registrar and university public relations officer for alleged financial bungling.
The review committee is headed by former MP and government’s nominee to the EC Kripal Parmar. The committee has been given a fortnight’s time to hear the “victim’s side of the story” and review the findings of the Kaul Committee which had recommended termination of their services.
