Shimla ( Jan 15) Popular Bollywood songs ”Munni badnam
hui” and ”Sheela ki jawani” have taken a beating in the hill state, following its  ban across all educational institutions with immediate effect, senior official confirmed.
State Education Director, O P Sharma said the decision to ban
singing and playing of such ”nasty songs” having corrupting
influence on the student community and others was taken in the
wake of flood of complaints by the government from various sections
    of the society.

Several intellectuals during their meetings with the Chief
Minister, Education Ministers and senior government officers had
also sought ban on such ”uncivilized” songs, official sources
    said.

Sharma said in future no filmy songs would be sung or played
during official functions and warned of strict action against
    violators.

However, religious and patriotic songs from films would
    be exempt from the ban.

    1. Good idea. Young minds need to be taught values, and “nasty” songs, I suppose this means sexually explicit songs, do not make anyone a kinder, smarter person. At the same time, state imposed censorship can be problematic, if it gets too subjective…
