Snow in Kufri, Narkanda; traffic disrupted on Hin-Tibet NH

    Shimla (Jan 15) Continued spell of rain and snow in Himachal
    Pradesh, white-carpeting the tourist destinations of Manali, Kufri
    while threw normal life out of gear, disrupting air and vehicular traffic in the state, official sources said.

    Tourists resort Manali in Kullu district reported fresh snowfall. The town has received about 25 cm snow since Friday morning.

    High reaches like Solang Nalah, Jalorijot and Mardi reported two to three feet snow. Lofty Rohtang Pass has already received five-six ft snow.

    Narkanda, Kufri and Fagu reported about 8 cm thick snowfall, disrupting traffic partly on 375 km-long Hindustan Tibet National Highway.

    No HRTC bus has been plying on it since last evening, the sources said.

    There are reports of heavy snowfall on high reaches of Lahaul  Spiti, Kinnur, Chamba, Shimla, Kullu, Kangra and Mandi district while light to moderate snow at downstream areas.

    Keylong town in Lahaul valley recorded 45 cm snow, In Kinnaur Kalpa 21 cm and Sangla 12 cm and In Chamba Tiss 30 CM, Pangi 20 cm, Salooni 15 cm and Bharmaur 10 cm, Shimla 5 cm sleet and 3 cm.

    heavy snowfall has occurred on Dhauladhar ranges. Machloadganj abode of Dalai Lama and Bhagsu recorded first spell of snowfall as 5-6 cm snowfall occurred this morning.

    Due to foggy, overcast and snowy weather conditions, movement of
    air and vehicular traffic was partly affected in the plain and
    middle hills of the state.

    Hamirpur recorded 36 mm rainfall, In Kangra Palampur 31 mm and Nurpoor 27 mm, Jhanduta in Bilaspur 26.7 mm, Baldawara in Mandi 26 mm and Una 25 mm and Shimla 5 mm (sleet).

    Minimum temperature margionly up in the state when Keylong was cold at minus 8.4 degree Celsius, Kalpa minus 3.5 degrees, Shimla 1.7 derees, Dharamshala 3.3 degrees, Bhuntar 4.8 degrees, Solan 5.5 degrees, Sundernagar 6 degrees, Mandi and Nahan 7 degrees each, Una 8 degrees respectively.

    Shimla town the vehicular traffic was stopped via lakkar bazzar –Victory tunnel owing to skidding of vehicles.

    Met office forecasted rain or snow at isolated places in middle and high reaches and dry weather in the foot hills during next 24 hrs.
