16 dead in an accident in Kotkhai, Himachal

Shimla: Sixteen people have died so far in a bus accident in Kotkhai, Himachal Pradesh. The private bus (Nanda Travels) was coming from Kiari to Shimla when the bus fell down a 1,000-ft gorge in Kupri Nala, near Majheewal village around 7:45 am today.

While 11 people died on the spot, two, people succumbed to injuries in Kotkhai hospital. About 30 injured who were taken to the Kotkhai hospital were referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, of which three died on the way. The condition of many others is reported to be serious. There were about 50 people travelling in the bus. Most of the deceased are reported to be local.

The cause of the accident is reported to be an axle breakdown. The names of the injured are awaited. Watch this sapce for more updates.
