Nahan: The Sirmour administration had identified 17 bighas of land at village Beharwala under Shivpur panchayat of Paonta Tehsil for wrestler Dalip Singh Rana alias Khali’s dream project – a wrestling coaching centre. Poanta Sahib tehsildar Suresh Sharma said that as of now there is no approachable road to the land, but on getting final approval from the government, a road would be arranged from other adjoining farms.

However farmers from the area including Dinesh Kumar, Dassram, Dhani Ram, Madan Lal, Raunki Ram, Ram Kishan, Jaipal, Gangaram, Prithavi Singh and uppradhan Rakesh Kumar, said that they have already expressed their unhappiness about setting up of a wrestling centre on shamlat land surrounded by private properties. They said that they wanted an educational institution for the local students, for which they had requested the state government many times, but were never heard.

The farmers said that they would never tolerate a wrestling coaching centre there and in case the state government remained adamant, they would not provide even an inch of their land for the approach land. It may be remembered that Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association president and member Parliament from Hamirpur Anurag Thakur had assured Khali to help him set up a wrestling academy in the state.
