Court extends remand of nine cops till Dec 19

A local Court today extended the remand of nine cops including IPS officer ZH Zaidi till Dec 19 on the request of CBI that it did not get the prosecution of police officers Charge-sheeted in custodial death of an alleged accused in Gudiya rape and murder case. The Chief Judicial Magistrate court of Ranjeet Singh ordered judicial remand of nine Himachal Pradesh Police officials including IG south range Z H Zaidi, SP D. W. Negi, DSP Manoj Joshi, SHO Raninder Singh and five others as they were produced in the Court today. The cops were charge sheeted on Nov 25 in charge of custodial death of Suraj Kumar who was allegedly died after custodial torture on Jul 18 at Kotkhai police station arrested by the SIT in charges of rape and murder of minor Gudiya as his dead body was recovered in a forest on Jul 06, 2017.

The counsel of CBI advocate Shusil Negi filed an application before the court that agency did not get prosecution sanctions in charge sheeted cops from Government of Himachal Pradesh to obtained the sanction it should be given time. Allowing the plea of CBI court fixed next date of hearing on Dec 19 in the matter of prosecution of Eight police cops. Accused and former SIT chief IG. Z H Zaidi contended in the court that he wants to file an application which were allowed by the judge. The IPS officer informed the court that he has to take his Adhar card linked with the Bank account and therefore he should be allowed to go home and bank.

The court also orders to decide to hear the matter of accused linking of Adhar on next date on Dec 19. The application moved by the CBI to take permission for obtaining the voice samples of eight cops was listed for the hearing today. The counsels for the accused cops did not turn up in the court for the fourth time today. The counsels representing the police cops and accused of Gudiya rape case were barred by a resolution passed by the district bar association recently to represents them. All the counsels have also moved in Himachal Pradesh high court against the said resolution and abstaining the hearing in the matter.

Court also decided to defer the hearing on the permission of Voice samples on next date when IPS officer also contented that he would be represented by his former counsel however they did not turn up in the court again today. At police officers including four members of SIT was arrested by the CBI on August 28 for the custodial death of Suraj and former police chief of Shimla Mr. D.W.Negi on Nov 16 on charges of custodial death and other charges. Mr. Negi was also produced in the court and also extended his judicial remand for next 13 days.
