State Election department seizes Rs 27 lakh cash

    State Election Department claimed to achieve major breakthrough today when it conducted five different cracks down on use of cash in the assembly election after seizing as many as Rs 26, 99, 455 by the team of income tax department. A spokesman for State Election Department said here today that in different teams seized Rs.26,99,455 cash in total at various places in the state, which includes Rs. 1,39,455 seized by flying squads, Rs.16,00,000 by static team, Rs.2,31,000 by Police and Rs.7,29,000 by Income Tax department.

    Police also seized 805 litres of Liquor, while 5,033 litres of country liquor, 376-liter IMFL, 676-liter beer and 64-liter Lahan by Excise & Taxation department today. Police teams also seized 761-gram Charas and 23 gram Poppy Husk. In addition to this, 151 matters related to clarifications and permissions were received in the office, out of which 34 were disposed of. ADGP law and order Mr. Atul Sharma said that police and Excise departments have jointly seized 1,12,29,050 rupees of cash till yesterday.

    He disclosed that so far 67,436 litres of liquor has been seized so far by Police and Excise department. In addition to this, 554-gram Opium, 9 kg Charas, 18.98 kg Poppy Husk, two kg Ganja, 15-gram Heroine, MDMA 1 kg, 50 Cocaine capsules, Smack 41 gram, 2.98 kg gold and 44,000 posters with 28 bags of printed material has also been seized.
