Shimla: Shimlites showed great enthusiasm for the wonder car Nano as bookings for the world’s cheapest car opened across the country on Thursday. In Shimla alone 426 forms were sold and 40 bookings were made on day one.
A large number of people were seen standing in a line outside the main branch of State Bank of India in Shimla early in the morning. AGM Vinod Khanna said that the SBI Shimla branch had received 2,000 forms, and on Thursday though 426 forms were sold, formalities for only 40 could be completed.
175 SBI branches in the state are selling forms for Nano, but the submission of forms could be made in only three main branches – Shimla, Dharamsala and Hamirpur.
To book a Nano, an applicant has to buy a form for Rs 300 from a SBI branch and then deposit Rs 2,999 along with the form as booking amount till April 27.
