More snowfall in tourist resorts Kufri & Narkanda

The cold wave further intensified in this hill state today as tourist resorts Kufri and Narkanda experienced more snowfall. Meanwhile, Kalpa town of Kinnaur district and its high reaches also experienced snowfall during the day time.

Report said that tourist resort Narkanda had 7 to 8 centimeter fresh snowfall this afternoon, Kufri, Fagu and Kharapather also recorded 5, 6, 10 cm snowfall respectively, partly disrupting the vehicular traffic.

The down-streams of this hill state were lashed with rain showers as it was cloudy in last 24 hours.

Reports of snowfall were also coming from high reaches of Lahaul & Spiti and Kinnaur. Udaipur in Lahaul & Spiti district received 3 cm snowfall and Kalpa in Kinnaur 5 cm, whereas, Keylong had light spell of snowfall.

Kumarsain 16 mm and Manali registered 21 mm rainfall, Bhuntar had 8 mm rainfall, Dharamshala 3 mm, Shimla and Solan 2 mm each.

There was no change in cold conditions as Bharmaur was low at minus 9 degrees Celsius, followed by Keylong and Kalpa at minus 2 degrees each, Manali and Dalhousie at zero degrees each.

Tissa registered 5 degrees Celsius, Rampur 4 degrees, Banjar in Kullu district and Kasol 2 degrees each and Saluni 1 degrees.

Shimla town was low at 4 degrees, Dharamshala and Solan registered 6 and 7 degrees, Chamba, Bhuntar in Kullu district and Palampur in Kangra district 8 degrees each, Sundernagar, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Kangra 9 degrees each and Una recorded 10 degrees.

After snowfall in the day maximum temperature of Kalpa was at 1. 4 degrees, Manali 5. 8 degrees, Shimla 12.9 degrees, Bhuntar 14 degrees, Dharamshala 15 degrees, Sundernagar 19 degrees. Kangra and Solan 18 degrees each, Nahan 19 degrees and Una 25 degrees respectively.

The Met office has forecast rain or snowfall in parts of high reaches, while the rest of the state would be mainly dry. The maximum temperature is likely to decline by 1 or 2 degrees in the next 24 hours.
