Snowfall on high reaches in Himachal Pradesh

Severe cold waves intensified in Himachal Pradesh after mild spell of snowfall on the high reaches of Lahaul and Spiti, Chamba and Kangra district this morning and light rainfall lashed its down streams plunging down the mercury in the entire state.

Shimla town was quite chill as people woke up from their beds this morning amid down pour and weather was hazy.

Minimum temperature of this town plunged by 4 degrees as it was recorded 7.5 degrees Celsius today which was 11.5 yesterday.

High reaches of Lahaul and Spiti got mild spell of snowfall this morning, however, Manali-Keylong road is open for vehicular traffic.

There are reports of snowfall on high reaches of Chamba and Kangra and rainfall on the down stream. Tissa of Chamba got 26 mm rain, Jubberhatti 7.6 mm, Kahu in Hamirpur 5 mm, Una 4.8 mm, Dehra in Kangra 4.3 mm and Nurpur, Kangra, Solan 3 mm each.

The met office said that fresh western disturbance was in the air attributing weather change in the state. It forecast mainly dry weather in next 24 hours but mercury can decline further as sky is partly cloudy.
