Moderate intensity tremor rock parts of Himachal Pradesh at 2320 hours yesterday, Indian Meteorological Department release said.

IMD in-charge at Shimla Manmohan Singh told that tremor hit parts of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh and also some parts of Mandi, Keylong and Kullu.

It measured 4.5 magnitude on the Richter scale. The epicenter of earthquake was located at the latitude of 32.2 degrees North and longitude 76.3 degrees East in the hills of Kangra district.

Similar tremor also hit parts of Chamba district on July 9 , which measured 5 magnitude on Richter scale.

Chamba, Kangra, Kinnaur and parts of Shimla district fall in the line of high seismic zone of schedule IV. 1907 earthquake was deadliest earthquake in the history during last 100 years which measured 7.8 magnitude and took life of around 20,000 people, demolishing most of human habitation and landmarks in Kangra valley.

Meteorologists are of opinion that very high intensity (between 7 to 8 magnitude) earthquake may hit after every hundred years in the North Western Himalayan ranges if we compare it with 1907 earthquake of Kangra and past.
