Owing to fresh western disturbances in north-west India, meteorological department warned of heavy rain and snow in Himachal Pradesh in next 48 hrs.
Shimla IMD incharge Manmohan Singh told that fresh western disturbances were heading towards northern-western Himalayan ranges, which are likely to affect many parts of northern states as it would bring rain in most parts of plains and middle hills and snow on high reaches.
There are reports of fresh snowfall on the high reaches of Lahaul & Spiti, Chamba and Kangra district today but down streams remained partly cloudy and mostly dry.
The state also had light to moderate rain or snow in last 24 hours owing to cyclonic circulations now moving towards Pakistan and China, as Keylong had 5 centimeter snowfall yesterday followed by Kalpa 3 cm and Shimla 2 mm and 3.5 mm rain.
In Una district, Bangana had 30 mm rain and Una 18 mm, Nadaun in Hamirpur 14 mm, Hamirpur town 10 mm, Banjar in Kullu 13 mm, Kotkhai in Shimla 12 mm, Kasol 7 mm, Rampur in Shimla 9 mm. Karsog and Mandi 6 mm, Baijnath in Kangra district and Seobagh in Kullu district 8 mm each, Bhunter and Manali 6 mm each.
Night temperature of Keylong was plunged by 5.6 degrees as it was low at minus 8.5 degree Celcius. Shimla was low at 2.6 degrees and high at 10 degrees. Sundernagar 1.3 degrees and 14.9 degrees, Bhunter 1.7 degrees and 15.4 degrees, Kalpa minus 5.4 degrees and 4.8 degrees. Dharamshala in Kangra was 7.4 degrees and 17.8 degrees, Una 4.7 degrees and 21 degrees, Nahan 5 degrees and 15 degrees whereas Solan 0.5 degrees and 17 degrees.
