Cong MLA booked for allegedly indulging in a scuffle

Shimla: Jawali police today booked Neeraj Bharti, Congress MLA from Jawali assembly segment, under Section 323 IPC, for allegedly indulging in a scuffle with a youth identified as Manoj Kumar, a resident of village Sihal, late last night, police said.

Sub-divisional police officer, Nurpur, Rakesh Singh told HimVani that a complaint was lodged with the Jawali police by Manoj Kumar that there was a scuffle with Neeraj Bharti late last night and police registered a case under Section 323 IPC against the Congress MLA and the investigation was initiated. He said it was a non-cognizable offense and was being looked into. DSP confirmed that Neeraj Bharti had also lodged a complaint against Manoj Kumar, whom the MLA allegedly caught moving under suspicious circumstances in the dead of night on Pathankot-Jawali road and brought him to the police station. DSP said both the complaints were being investigated.

Meanwhile, Neeraj Bharti denied allegation of the any scuffle with Manoj Kumar. However, he said that he found both youths Manoj and Sonu were lying on the road under suspicious circumstances in the dead of night last night. He said he informed the police, which failed to reach the spot well in time so he himself took Manoj to police station.
