Tourist resorts Manali, Kufri and Narkanda experience seasons first snowfall

    Tourist resorts Manali in Kullu district, Kufri and Narkanda in Shimla, Kalpa in Kinnaur experienced seasons first snowfall of this winter season as snowfall occurred this afternoon. Tourist resort Manali experienced snowfall this afternoon however snow could not mount on the road as it melted after some time. However, Vashist and Hadimba area of tourist resort got two to three-centimetre snowfall.

    Tourist resort Narkanda known for skiing experienced seasons first snowfall this morning and in the afternoon today. Tourist resort Narkanda got three to four-centimetre seasons first snowfall however vehicular traffic to Chopal disrupted after five to six-centimetre snowfall at Khirikai. Tourist resort Kufri and Kharapather got two-centimetre seasons first snowfall. High reaches of Shimla like Chansall pass and Dodra Kawar was also covered by the snowfall which continued in some part. Tribal Kinnar district got about 17 cm snowfall in last 24 hrs as half feet snowfall was on mounting on the road.

    Rainfall continues in the State as Kangra and Chamba had about 90 mm and 76 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. Shimla, tourist resort Dalhousie got about 112 mm rainfall in the State in the last 24 hours. As many as 18 link road under Rohru and Rampur subdivision become snowbound and stranding about 11 services of HRTC in the area. Vehicular traffic on Hindustan Tibet Road remained open between Rampur to Shimla via Narkanda as the road was fit for vehicular traffic after light snowfall at Narkanda.

    The maximum temperature comes down drastically as Shimla was recorded eight degrees and seven degrees below normal, Kalpa four degrees, Keylong 1.5 degrees, Bhuntar 12 degrees, Dharamshala 12.8 degrees, Solan 12 degrees, Kangra 12.7 degrees, Sundernagar in Mandi 13.9 degrees, Mandi 14.8 degrees, Bilaspur 18.4 degrees and Chamba 13 degrees and Dalhousie 1.4 degrees respectively. Met Office forecast rain and thunderstorm at many parts of the State and snow on many parts of high reaches in next 24 hours.
