High reaches of HP experience snowfall

High reaches of Himachal Pradesh today experienced fresh snowfall as Met office forecast rain and snowfall at few places in the State. The reports arriving said that snowfall was recorded at 0830 hours today in high reaches of Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti and Shimla district. The Shimla-Rohru State highway was off for vehicular traffic after seven to eight centimeter fresh snowfall at Kharapather today.

 

There are about two to three centimeter snowfall at tourist resort Kufri and Narkanda in the district. Shimla was overcast till this morning however it mainly dry and sunny in the afternoon today. There are light snowfall on the Churdhar and Haripurdhar in Sirmaur and Dodrakawar of Shimla district. Kalpa in Kinnuar got 3.6 cm snowfall, Keylong in Lahaul Spiti got traces of snowfall.

 

The gateway to Lahaul Spiti 13050 ft Rohtang Pass, Lady of Keylong, Seven sisters hill and Goshal hills got light to moderate spell of snowfall. Weather was mainly dry in rest of the State. In Sirmaur district Nahan got 3.7 mm rainfall, Solan 1.6 mm and Ponta Sahib 1 mm. Owing to thick blanket of cloud in the sky night temperature marginal increase in the temperature giving slight respite from icy cold winds.

 

The minimum temperature of Keylong was recorded minus 6.7 degrees today, Kalpa minus 2.6 degrees, Solan 2 degrees, Manali 3 degrees, Shimla 4 degrees, Sundernagar 4.8 degrees, Bhuntar 5 degrees, Nahan 7.5 degrees, Dharamshala 7.8 degrees, Kangra 8 degrees and Una 8.6 degrees respectively.
