Himachal Pradesh Kissan Sabha today sought adequate compensation as many farmers have to bear weather vagaries and were effected by devastating hailstorm that occurred here yesterday.

State president of HKS, Dr. Kuldeep Tanwar said in a press statement issued today that after issuing order the state government should estimate the loss caused by hailstorms. He said that during last many years farmers of Mashobra, Theog and Basantpur are facing wrath of hailstorms, as their crops are being destroyed and damaged by natural calamity. The state government compensations are very meager to the actual loss incurred by the neutral calamity however after 68 years of independence farmers were being given the nominal compensations but it should really be enhanced after rationally accessing the exact loss. He also added that compensations should be made rational, as loss caused by the hailstorm to standing crops of farmers in the state is enormous. Kissan Sabha leader also demanded that the government should provide subsidy for provision of anti-hailgun net to the vegetable-growing farmers on the analogy of apple growers.
