Shimla district administration would organize International Shimla Summer Festival 2014 from June 1 to 5, 2014 at historic Ridge ground.
This was announced by Deputy Commissioner Shimla Dinesh Malhotra. He said that fire cultural night, Himachal food festival, Shimla art festival, flower show, baby show and dog show would enthrall the audience.
He also said that National fame artist would perform in all the cultural nights as Coke Studio Artist Clinton Cerejo and Sonu Kakkar along with there orchestra band would be the star of inaugural program. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh will raise the curtain for this event at 2000 hours on June 1 and it would conclude at 0000 hours mid night.
Second cultural night would be dedicated for local folk song artists in which prominent pahari artist Mr. Kuldeep Sharma and others would perform on June 2 from 2000 hours to 2200 hours.
Third cultural night will be dedicated for laughter artist Khayali who would perform from 2100 hours to 2200 hours while cultural troupe form NZCC government of India Patiala and Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan Fold dance and song artist would also entertain audience from 2000 hours to 2100 hours.
On the fourth cultural night Miss Summer Festival Shimla Beauty Pageant would be organized at 2000 hours to 2200 hours and the concluding night of this event would be declared off by Himachal Pradesh Governor Urmila Singh and the night would be dedicated to Punjabi play back singer Miss Pooja from 2000 hours to 2200 hours.
Other activities of this festival would be half marathon of 21 km men and 10 km women to be organized by Department of Youth Sports Shimla which will be held on June 1 at 0700 hours.
Himachal food festival based on local delicacies would be organized by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department at Ashiana Restaurant Shimla, which would begin from June 1, to 5.
Flower show would be organized by SAGES a local pro-environment NGO from May 30 to June 1, 2014. During this show flower exhibitions would be held at Scandal Point as the participants would decorate this place.
In order to promote public health, Chief Medical Office Shimla would organize healthy baby show at rain shelter on the Ridge in which healthiest baby would be given award and free health check camp would be
organized on June 2, 2014 from 0900 hours to 1530 hours.
Shimla police would organize dog show at the Ridge ground on June 4 at 1500 hours in which pets of police dog squad and local participants would perform in the public.
Mr. Malhotra said that though this festival have lost its relevance in the boom of entertainment channel and coming up of new media. District administration had been organizing this event for last sixty years and want to continue it to attract the tourists and enthrall them during the summer season each year.
