Himachal Pradesh Government re-notified Timber Distribution (TD) Right after bringing new policy on December 26, 2013. This was stated by Forest Minister Thakur Singh Bharmauri in the assembly on Monday.

Replying to a query raised by Maheshwar Singh of HLP today, Mr. Bharmauri said that government has reduced the hike in charge of TD rights to people by making it more rational after deleting unnecessary riders so that beneficiaries have not to move from post to pillar seeking clearance from so many people.

Dhumal government had made TD policy more complicated, moreover, its charges have been increased substantially. He said that earlier gram sabha was allowing it after passing resolution but it is now simplified as it is being allocated after applying with respective Division Forest Officer within one week.

He said that in case of any natural calamity, the timber wood would be given free of cost but for Deodar, it will be charged Rs. 500 per cubic meter and Rs. 200 per cubic meter for other woods.
