Three day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign concludes at Sunni

The three day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign organized by PIB Shimla and other media unit of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting with help of district administration came to an end here today as concluding day was dedicated for ICDS and NHRM schemes

Himachal Pradesh Horticulture, Irrigation and Public Health Minister Vidya Stokes, who presided over the valedictory function, lauded the efforts of organizers for dissemination information in the rural areas.

Addressing mammoth gathering at Government Senior Secondary School Sunni, Mrs. Stokes said that UPA government had launched Food Security Scheme which would cater two third of national population and will completely eradicate the prevailing hunger in the entire country.

The consistent efforts of UPA government also helped the peasantry as 70,000 farmers got benefit of loan waivers during last few years. Moreover, to ensure them ample compensations of land before acquiring their land mega project had enacted new land acquisition act.

“MNREGA and other National flagship programs were empowering masses after making them economically independent as job avenues were offered to them on their doorsteps”, Mrs. Stokes said.

Appealing the women to come forward to get the benefits of centrally sponsored scheme especially ICDS, she said pregnant and lactating mothers have been given required free dietary components with the help of more than 18,000 strong network of ‘Anganwardies’ in the state, besides making available cooked food and quota of food grains to children before they join school.

In terms of human index, Himachal is considered as model state as it is figured among leading states in sector of health, power and housing, she noted that only 9 percent of people live below poverty lines.

The people especially Anganwardi and Panchayati Raj representatives showed their keen interest in the campaign after taking information of centrally sponsored programs provided under a single roof through the medium of 32 stalls, speeches of resource persons, dance and play.

At the concluding day, healthy baby show was organized in which 24 boys and girls below four years took part. In the show, Master Sumit (3 years) was adjudged as most healthy baby in the show followed by baby Tamanna (3 & half years) and Master Mohit (3 years).

Baby show is orgnised in order to evaluate the progress of implementation of Integrated Child Development Scheme. This was the 18th Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign held in Himachal Pradesh.
