The high reaches of Himachal Pradesh were experiencing snowfall as sky was overcast today.
Western disturbances prevailing in the region were keeping entire western Himalayan mountain ranges overcast, despite most of the places in the state remained dry but cloudy weather increased the cold wave in the state.
Report arriving from Keylong said that high reaches of Lahaul & Spiti like Goshal hills, Lady of Keylong and Seven Sisters hills had spell of snowfall in the day pushing down the mercury in the tribal town which was recorded minus 3 degrees last night. There are reports that Chirdhar ranges of Sirmour, Shrikhand and Kinnuar Kailesh of Kinnuar, Dhauladhar of Kangra and Manimahesh and high ranges of Pangi and Bharmour were experiencing snowfall since this afternoon.
The gateway to Lahaul & Spiti, 13,050 feet high, Rohtang Pass was open for vehicular traffic today as bus services resumed its operation from Manali to Keylong. But due to ice formation on the road it became slippery for vehicular traffic.
Due to cloud blankets the mercury got slightly down in the state as Shimla was recorded minimum at 6 degrees, Sundernagar 3 degrees, Bhuntar 1.8 degrees, Kalpa 0.1 degrees, Dharamshala 8.4 degrees, Una 5 degrees, Mandi 3.9 degrees, Nahan 7.7 degrees, Solan 1.4 degrees and tourists resort Manali at 1.6 degrees. Maximum temperature of Kalpa was 12.5 degrees, Shimla and Bhuntar 16 degrees each, Nahan 20.6 degrees, Sundernagar and Solan 21 degrees each, Dharamshala 24 degrees and Una 25 degrees.
The met department said that the state is likely to have more snowfall on the high reaches and rain in the down streams, in next 24 hours.
