Five persons killed and three others were injured when a Bolero jeep carrying them fell at Ghodana Kanchi near Dehra 30 km from Theog in the district.
Police sources said that the vehicle (HP-08A-1017) enrooted to Kotkhai, fell down at Ghodana, Kanchi into deep gorge negotiating sharp curve. Five died on the spot while three injured were rushed to Zonal Hospital Theog.
The deceased were identified as Daulat Ram (1), Daulat Ram (2), Hem Raj, Kuldeep, Ramesh, all resident of Salyana post office Marhayog of Tehsil Chopal of this district. The injured were Rakesh, Ramesh of same village and one Nepali citizen.
The ill-fated jeep was carrying eight persons to attend a marriage party at Kotkahi, when the driver lost control on the Ghodana curve near Dehra and it fell down in the deep gorge. The rescue team were rushed from Theog and traced out the body from the down side of hills. The bodies have been handed over to the families of the victims.
