High reaches of Kinnuar experience snowfall

    Shimla (Jan 10)  Icy cold winds blowing across the state continue to affect life in Himachal Pradesh. While, fresh snowfall was reported in the high reaches of Kinnuar district plunging down mercury many degrees below normal.

    According to reports arriving from Kinnuar, Kalpa  experienced 0.6 cm snowfall, where as high reaches like Kinner Kailesh, Shri Khand and Chitkual got 5-6 cm fresh snowfall overnight. However, the weather  was clear in the morning.

    Mercury dipped further in Lahal Spiti district where Keylong was reeling at five degree below normal and low at minus 15.7 degree Celsius, followed by Kalpa that was minus five degrees and two degree below normal.

    Bhuntar in Kullu was minus 0.5 degrees, Sundernagar in Mandi, Una, and Solan was at zero degrees each, Shimla, Dharamshala and Palampur( Kangra) was three degrees each, Mandi was at 1.4 degrees and Nahan in Sirmour at 5.7 degrees respectively.
    The Maximum temperature of Kalpa was at 0.5 degrees, Shimla 11.3 degrees, Nahan 15 degrees, Una 17 degrees, Bhuntar, Mandi and Solan 18 degrees each, Dharamshala 19 degrees and Sundernagar 21 degrees respectivley.

    Day temperature are likely to improve today in the middle and foothills.

    Clear weather facilitated tribal flight’s and 20 people were evacuated from snowbound area of Sisu and Satingri of Lahaul Spiti district to Bhuntar in two sorties of chopper, this morning, District Information Official Sher Singh told Himvani.

    The Met office has forecast mainly dry weather in next 24 hrs in the state.
