Mandi: The Deputy Commissioner Mandi while exercising the powers of District Election Officer under Panchyati Raj Act has suspended two employees for dereliction of duties and misconduct. Both the officers were assigned duties during the Panchyat elections. The orders were issued by the commissioner while acting on the reports of SDM Sunderngar, acting as Returning officer for the elections of Panchyat.
Drawing Master of Government Senior Secondary School Lekh Ram was assigned duties of reserve polling officer, but was suspended as he did not obey the orders and did not attend the rehearsal at community hall Sundernagar on 12-12-2010. In other case Panchyat Sahayak at Gram panchyat Seri Kothi Khub Ram was assigned duties as Nodal officer during panchyat elections, but was found absent from 26th December to 29th December during the election process and due to it polling parties suffered hardship. Both these employees were placed under suspension with immediate effect as per the provisions of Panchyati Raj Act and Services Rules. The enquiry would be conducted against these officials for dereliction in conducting election duties. These orders were received today in the office of Returning officer Sundernagar.
