Shimla (Jan 3): Three persons were killed and three others were injured as an Alto car carrying them rolled down the hill at Malgi-pulah, 65 km from here, this afternoon, the police source said. A ill-fated car (HP 52A 3884) was on way to Shimla from Rampur. The deceased are yet to be identified. Source said the accident occurred on the Suni-Kingal road, which is very narrow and accident-prone. District administration has diverted traffic via Basantpur after snowfall at Narkanda and Kufri since Thursday.

  1. This news item reminds me an article by Nityin published on 7th December 2010, in himachal live under the  heading ‘Why Congress MLA’s from Shimla Distt are silent on issues’. The writer had  stated there that entire traffic to Shimla is diverted via  alternate Luhri-Sunni route during snowfall when NH22 remains closed.  This road falls in the constituency of the leader of opposition and it was particularly mentioned that the road is accident prone and lying in utter neglect but  the said ‘leader’ is silent in the matter.
Now 3 precious lives have been lost and there is apprehension of many more. But who cares?

  2. Dear Amar the matter is serious and Himvani would seek Opposition leader response about it very soon. If such is condition of main roads imagine of link and village road. People should raise the issue in each platform. We appreciate your genuine concern.

  3. I hope Himvani must have received the response of the leader of opposition on the condition of luhri-sunni road,by now.  Would like to know about it or that the matter was simply ignored by the said leader!
By the way, the road condition has not improved even a bit.
