Police seize 16 kg explosive from a person in HP



    Nahan (Dec 29) Shauqat Ali (55), son of Nisar Ali resident of Gunnughat of this town, was nabbed at Ponta today, when he was carrying 16 kg explosive (gunpowder) in bus (No. HP-18A-0582), on the way to Dehradun from Manali, said police officials.

    SHO, Poanta, Sukh Ram said that the accused, who had no license to carry explosive disclosed to police that after getting this consignment from one, Shauqat Wasto, he was going to handover it to Riziat Ahmed at Tihrigharwal in Uttarakhand.

    After the seizure of explosive, Nisar Ali has been taken into police custody for possessing illegal ammunition, as a case under Arms and Ammunition Act had been registered against him.

    On a tip off the police conducted checking of bus. It is second such case of ammunition trafficking as one business man of Shimla town Dharmvir Singh was arrested for supplying ammunition to Maoists in Uttar Pradesh, recently.

    However, police have to investigate about any such role being played by the network of people involved in illicit trafficking of gun powder outside the state.
