14 members of five families rendered homeless in a major fire

    Shimla (Dec 28) 14 members of five families were rendered homeless in the biting cold, when five houses were gutted down by devastating fire at Chalsawni village of Pangi valley of Chamba district this morning.

    According to SDM Pangi, K C Chaudhary, the house belonged to Devi Chand, Madan Lal, Karam Chand, Prem Singh and Budhi Ram that was gutted down by devastating fire in Chalsawni village of Pangi valley of Chamba district.

    The people tried to douse down the fire and succeeded to save only two or three houses in the vicinity. Chaudary said, that fire caused an estimated loss of Rs 25 lakh, the district administration has has paid Rs 40,000, beside given two blankets and ration for six months each to the affected households.

    The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.

    Meanwhile Himachal Pradesh, Speaker, Tulsi Ram has urged the administration to liberally assist the victims in this biting cold weather.
