Cong cries foul, alleges violation of election code in PRI elections

    Shimla (Dec 30) Himachal Pradesh Congress Unit today, submitted memorandum accusing State Election Commission for allowing violation of election code for Panchayat Raj Elections, alleged that it succumbed before the pressure of state BJP government to do so.

    Himachal Pradesh Congress General Secretary and HPCC Spokesperson, Kuldeep Rathore, and HPCC Office Secretary, Vaneet Gautam, Former MP, D R Shandil, Congress MLA Sohan Lal and Shimla Urban President, Rajinder Bhuj including dozen of others party workers submitted memorandum to State governor Urmila Singh here this evening.

    While speaking to Media persons outside the Raj Bhawan Rathore, alleged that party is charging State Elections commission of not intervening despite it lodged piles of complaints before it regarding violations of election code.

    Congress leader said that BJP is using the state machinery favouring BJP backed candidates in Panchayat Raj Institutions and Urban bodies poll to ensure the victory of its candidate. Beside, it did not take any action over complaint being lodged by the party to threaten Congress supported candidate during the poll in the state.

    He charged that some officials of BJP government were working as agent of BJP government and state election commission remained dormant to hear their request despite successive complaints.

    While speaking to Himvani HPCC, Office General Secretary Vaneet Gautum said that as many as 30 complaints have been pending before state election commission regarding violations of elections code by the current BJP government and its agencies during the PRIs and Civic bodies poll but no actions has taken by it.
