Special train to ease out X-mas & New Year’s rush

    Shimla ( Dec 24) To ease out X-mas and New Year’s rush Northern Railways has started holiday special train on 96 km long Kalka-Shimla on the heritage route, an official said here today.

    According to Shimla based Railway Superintendent, G S Rajput, a special train enshrined as Duplicate Shivalik has been started up and down between Kalka and Shimla from December 23 (Thursday) and it would continue till the first week of 2011 to ease out the rush of tourist towards Shimla and facilitating them back on the route.

    Beside Duplicate Shivalik, six others trains are normally running on the track as each them accommodates up to 200 passengers in seven boogies which takes five-hour on the narrow-gauge rail line surrounding by salubrious oak and pine forest amid dales and valleys.
