Shimla (Dec 20): Keeping in view the general elections of Panchyati Raj Institutions (PRI) and Urban Local Bodies in the state Himachal Pradesh Government has declared December 28, December 30 and January 1 and January 3 as public holidays.
PRI elections are scheduled to be held on December 28, December 30 and January 1, while the election for the Urban Local Bodies is to be held on January 3.
All Government Offices/Boards/Corporations/Educational Institutions and Industrial Establishments under Industrial Disputes Act and shops will remain closed on the said date in the areas of those Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies where the elections are scheduled to be held. It would also be ensured that this would be a paid holiday to the daily waged employees and also within the meaning of Section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act 1881, working in the areas of those Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies where the elections are scheduled to be held.
