green judgment delivered by the green bench of Himachal Pradesh High Court. According to them they had to move the court when leaders of both the major political parties started siding with the cement company. They also thanked media persons who stood by the masses by highlighting various problems faced by the locals. They also honored advocates who fought cases of different groups on this issue.

All were of the view that the judiciary has given a massage to the government and the masses that the rule of law was still prevailing in the society. Interestingly, the move to set up the cement project was started in the year 1991 from Keran village itself, which is native village of MLA Roop Singh Thakur. “At that time no one had foreseen environmental degradation but now after about twenty years the people felt that they were cheated in the name of development by
politicians,” said a participant.

Kulbhushan Upmanu, Guman Singh from Himalya Niti abhiyan, Chuni Lal and Dharam Singh from Krishak Kalyan Samiti, Joginder Singh president, Bhartiya Kishan Sangh, Ganga Singh from Badayogi Sangarsh Samiti, Lawan Thakur from RTI Bureau and Amar Singh from Sundernagar Sangarsh Samiti addressed the representatives of different social and environmental organization and termed it a historical
victory.
