HimVani
Shimla: Maize, potato and paddy have been included under the national crop insurance scheme in Himachal for this kharif season. The Agriculture Insurance Company of India Ltd would be the implementing agency for the scheme. The insurance scheme is compulsory for farmers who avail crop loans through banks or agricultural societies, and optional for others. The indemnity level for these crops has been kept at 80% of the average yield for damage assessment.
The cut-off date for accepting proposals for crop insurance from non-loan-taking farmers is end of July and for loan availing farmers it is end of October. As per the provision in the scheme, small and marginal farmers are eligible for 10% subsidy on the premium.
