Shimla: All three special economic zones (SEZ) proposed to be set up in Himachal Pradesh seem to be running out of time. While Kangra SEZ has already crossed the set deadline by three months, time limit to set the process rolling for the Waknaghat SEZ would lapse in November and October respectively. It is believed that the government has been forced to rethink the projects due to the central government specifying new rules to set up SEZs.
Therefore, the government is seeking legal opinion on all aspects of the projects. On the other hand, with the Assembly elections just a few months away, the government does not want to stir any land acquisition row, which means that the projects will have to wait for the next government.
