HPU inks agreement with Altai University of Russia

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh University has signed an agreement with Altai State Technical University, Russia for undertaking joint research; Vice-Chancellor Sunil Kumar Gupta disclosed this here today. He said that the agreement has been made between the Institute of Integrated Himalyan Studies (IIHS) and Altai State Technical University, Russia under the programme to be called ‘Altai- Indian Himalya Scientific and Cultural Exchange Forum (AIHCEF)’. Sunil Kumar Gupta who is also the President of IIHS and M.Y. Shishin, Director of the Russian University signed this agreement.

After signing the agreement Prof. Gupta said that the commonly identified areas of research will be energy conservation, natural resources date management system, climate change studies, ecology and sustainable development of the regions (Informative exchange, presentation of scientific reports and articles and organization of conferences or seminars on the problem), construction of regional models of adaptation to the climatic changes, ecologic-economical potential of forests due to Kyoto and post Kyoto Protocols, possibility of using alternative sources of energy and energy preservation technologies, elaboration of regional models of monitoring of natural and artificial plants in system of air-space global monitoring of Earth (IGMAS), listing of world UNESCO cultural and natural heritage in the two regions and common educational programmes (Academic Exchange Programme and Active use of Modern Technology for Distance Education). He further said that to begin with submission of joint project proposals, publication of biannual journal (One issue by the Institute and another by the Altai State Technical University), publication of monograph on common thematic areas and faculty/academic exchange programme will be undertaken.
