Shimla (Nov 27): Himachal Pradesh government would be soon coming up with an effective policy to regularize encroachment cases pertaining to the vulnerable sections of the society, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, OBCs, widows, ex-servicemen, and other poor and deserving sections of the society. This was stated by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal during a video-conference held with the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police of the state from his office chamber here today.

The Chief Minister directed deputy commissioners to take effective steps to execute the warrant of ejection in encroachment cases and get the government land evacuated of the encroachers. He said that monthly report had to be submitted to the government depicting the progress of revenue cases by every district and ensure that patwaris and panchayat secretaries were available to the general public on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. He said that people had been repeatedly requesting for disposal of their various revenue cases, especially relating to demarcation, mutation and jamabandi, etc. which needed to be accorded priority and necessary services provided to them promptly.

He said that Local Area Development Funds (LADA) needed to be procured from hydro electric projects in all the districts and used for the benefit of project-affected people. He said that making Himachal Pradesh polythene-free was an important programme of the state government, which needed to be implemented in letter and spirit. He said that mass awareness needed to be created amongst all sections of the society to make it a habit not to use plastic in their day to day activities. He said that Public Works Department would be soon providing shredder machines to all the districts to manage plastic waste for use in road mettling.
