Bear attack leaves two injured in Himachal

Shimla (Nov 26): In two different incidents of bear attacks during the last 24 hours in Himachal, a 13-yr-old boy and a woman were injured in Dodra-Kawar area of Shimla district and Paprola area of Kangra district, respectively.

In the first incident at Khadiyar village of Jogindernagar sub-divison of Kangra district near Paprola, one 42-year-old Kamala Devi were attacked by a bear on Thursday as she was getting fodder for her cattle near a jungle. As the victim screamed for help, villagers reached there just on time and the bear disapeared into the jungle. The injured was rushed to Aurvedic Hospital, Paprola with several bite injures.

In the second encounter, a 13-year-old boy had to be hospitalised in IGMC hospital on Thursday after being wounded by a bear in the backward Dodra-Kawar area of Rohru sub-division. Both victims are reported to be out of danger.

Attacks by wild animals have been increasing with an alarming rate in the recent times. On Wednesday a two-year-old child was killed by a leopard at Gobalthi village in Rampur, while a week ago a kid was killed in Mandi district in a similar manner.
