Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal unveiled the statue of first woman warrior, Rani Jhansi Laxmi Bai at newly renovated Rani Jhansi park in the heart of town here today. While unveiling the newly placed statue of Maharani Laxmi Bai here this morning, Chief Minister called it a new chapter in the golden history of Indian heritage of freedom struggle as it would be first such type of Martyr Monument in the town.
He also said that a modern light and sound system would be added to this monument so that statute could glow at night and songs of patriotism could be played here. While talking to HimVani, Director of State Art, Language and Culture department, Dr. Prem Sharma said that 3 ton weight and 15 ft. height statue has been chiseled by renown sculptures Phakir Chand Prida belonging to Bhupatwala Haridawar. He said that entire park has been developed by spending Rs 76 in which statue alone has cost Rs 26 lakh.
