Shimla (Nov 18): High reaches of Himachal Pradesh were lashed with light to moderate snowfall, whereas low-lying areas of the state experienced rainfall in many parts of state on Wednesday night, the Met office said.
Rohtang Pass and its nearby Kokasar village in Lahaul Spiti district experienced about 15 cm snowfall, while Keylong too had a mild spell of snowfall. Dhauladhar mountain ranges in Kangra and high reaches of Chamba and Himalayan ranges in Kinnaur had light snowfall, while downstream areas were lashed with light downpour.
Tourist destinations Shimla, Manali, Kufri, Narkanda and Dharshala also experienced thundershowers after midnight. There are reports of rainfall from other parts of the state as well.
According to agriculture experts, the unexpected rain is beneficial for sowing of Ravi crops like Wheat, mustard and other cereals already being sown by farmers in plain and middle hills.
