Arvind Paul wins open category Himalayan paragliding championship



Dharamsala: Local lad Arvind Paul won the Himalayan Open Paragliding Championship in the open category that concluded at Bir-Billing on Sunday, winning a cash prize of Rs 25,000. Roshan Lal Thakur from Manali bagged the second position while Raj Kumar from Indian Army finished third.

In the women category Russian pilot Veranian Anstasiia walked away with the top honours while Zhuravlovya Maria, again from Russia, finished second. In novice open category Sikander Thakur, Bijay Bohra and Akhilesh Yadav finished first, second and third respectively.

In novice accuracy category, Amit Sangrai, Shiv Chand and Jigmi Bhutia finished in the top three positions. In tandem accuracy landing category, Kush and Vishal Thakur bagged the first position, Samsher Singh and Jeeva Thakur finished second and Surinder Kumar also with Surinder Kumar were third.
