Animal Husbandry to go hi-tech with embrio transfer technology

Shimla: Animal husbandry in Himachal Pradesh is poised to go hi-tech with conversion of artificial insemination technology into embrio transfer technology to give birth to best milk yielding species of animals through surrogate mothers.  This was revealed by Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, in a review meeting of the animal husbandry department held here to take stock of the progress made on different fronts and initiatives taken to hi-tech the departmental functioning. He said that embrio transfer technology laboratory was being set up at Banuri in Palampur, Kangra at a cost of Rs. 3 crore for which required skilled manpower had also been made available. The centre is likely to start functioning in the near future.
