Shimla: The three day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign organized by the Press Information Bureau of Information and Broadcasting Ministry began at Thana Kalan of Kutlehar area of Una district. This campaign aims at creating awareness among the common people about the centrally sponsored programmes and schemes. Inaugurating the programme, the chief parliamentary secretary, Virender Kanwar lauded the efforts of PIB for launching such programmes specially in the remote and rural areas of the state to give them the benefits of the development programmes.
Highlighting the importance of network of roads in the hilly areas of the state for development, Kanwar said that ‘Prime Minister Gramin Sadak Yojna’, which commenced during the tenure of Prime Minister, Atal Vihari Vajpayee has revolutionized the economy of the rural areas. He said that under the PMGSY in Una district 131 schemes have been sanctioned with a cost of 98 core rupees and out of these 110 schemes have been completed spending about 72 crore rupees. He also gave a detailed account of the various state run development schemes like ‘Dudh Ganja Yojna’ and ‘Pt. Dindayal Kirishi Bagwan Samridhi Yojna’. On this occasion the resource persons Prof. Rakesh Arora from Education Dept., Mahendra Singh of District Institute of Education Training and R.S. Kalia, SDO PWD spoke on ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’, ‘Mid-day Meal’ and ‘Prime Minister Gramin Sadak Yojna’ respectively.
