Chamba (Nov 10): To fully exploit tourism potential of landlocked Chamba district, six helipads are being linked with the newly-introduced heli-taxi service in the state.

Talking to HimVani, district tourism development officer Kishori Lal said that since the district offers magnificent and panoramic tourist destinations, sufficient infrastructure facilities would be developed in public and private sector to promote high-end tourism. He said that Chamba, Bharmaur, Pangi and Tissa sub-divisions have more than six helipads, which would be linked with the heli-taxi services so that more and more tourists could visit the district. He said that these heli-taxies would take off from Amritsar, Jammu and Pathankot airports to all helipads in the district.

Appealing to the hotel and hospitality entrepreneurs in the district to impart quality services to tourists, he urged them to play constructive role to promote tourism, which would get a major boast after launching of the ambitious heli-taxi service in the district. He said that district has Dalhousie, Manimahesh and Khajiar lakes and tourist destinations would be greatly benefited after coming of heli-taxi service. Lal said that the department would give a facelift to pilgrimage centres in the district by increasing infrastructure and basic facilities.
