Mandi (Nov 9): Mandi chief judicial magistrate on Monday convicted A Sood, director of Axon laboratories Private Ltd, Nasrela, for manufacturing spurious SAPAGUN tablets, under Section 27(a) of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for five years and to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.
As per facts of the case, a drug inspector had taken samples of SAPAGUN tablets from a medical store in Mandi town, which was manufactured by the accused’s company. Afterwards, the tablets were got examined in a laboratory and found spurious. The court held the company guilty of manufacturing of misbranded drug and sentenced the director of the company under the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetic Act . The sentence was passed yesterday evening but the copy of the order was available today.
