BJP Govt trying to hijack panchayati raj poll in Himachal: HPCC

Shimla (Nov 8): The state unit of Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee today accused the BJP government of hijacking the forthcoming Panchayati Raj polls by misleading people to fight elections on its plank and making populist statements.

Party state spokesman and general secretary of HPCC Kuldeep Rathore lashed out at the state government for making alluring statements like allotting one bigha free land to landless in urban areas and 2 bighas in rural areas. Terming the above move as mere gimmick before PRI elections, Rathore alleged that it was same regime which had played mischief with innocent people by making popular statements announcing to hand over illegal encroachment to them during its last term.

He alleged that most of cabinet ministers were visiting rural areas in the state to fetch support for party candidates in PRI polls on the other hand people affiliated to Congress were being implicated in false cases. He  further alleged that a number of Congress supporters elected during the last Panchayati Raj polls too were being booked in false cases and many of them were being debarred from taking part in electioneering in the name of false illegal encroachments made by them.
