Shimla (Nov 1): Drivers and conductors employed on contractual basis by Himachal Roads Transport Corporation (HRTC) have called off their one-week-long strike that had started on Monday.

“After talks between the representatives of agitating employees and HRTC management, employees who have threatened to go on one-week strike have called off the strike,” said managing director of HRTC, Bharat Khera. He added that strike by more than two thousand contractual employees might have affected the Corporation in the ongoing festival season.

“Keeping in view the seriousness of the matter, negotiations were held between representatives of employees and HRTC officials on Monday morning. Employees have been assured that their demands would be looked at sympathetically,” he said. “We have assured the employees to discuss their demands in the coming meeting of Board of Directors of HRTC,” said Khera.
