Shimla: The Himachal government on Monday announced cash awards for 12 panchayats, one for each district, where an appreciable rise in sex ratio had been recorded.The 12 panchayats entitled for the Rs 5-lakh award are Methi (Bilaspur district), Sinjuer (Chamba), Kakkar (Hamirpur), Kudag (Kangra), Namgia (Kinnaur), Deotha (Kullu), Goharma (Lahaul & Spiti), Mathear (Mandi), Nehri Shimla), Bhanat (Rajgarh), Hinner (Solan) and Badhera Raj (Una district).
Presiding over a state supervisory board meeting, the CM said that the government was considering setting up of a toll-free helpline to disseminate information on pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic techniques (PNDT). It would also be used for registering complaints and violations of the PNDT Act, he added.
