Shimla (Oct 22): The 6th edition of MTB Hercules will be flagged off on October 23 from the historic Ridge, Shimla.
Mohit Sood president of HASTPA, which is organising the event along with Himachal Tourism, said that about 70 participants would participated in ‘HERCULES MTB HIMACHAL 2010’ including 56 Indians, participating in the 8-day event covering 54O kms. The biking event would corss over the 14,000 feet Jalori-Jot in Kullu to test endurance, stamina and strength of participants. The riders will pass through uncharted interiors, hike through deep forests, soak in the sun and experience nature all around through gut-wrenching uphills, dangerous downhills, village back roads, beautiful meadows, thick vegetation, jeep tracks and taste real mountain biking.
A total entourage of 250 people comprising riders, officials, medi-care personnel and ground staff would join the event and halt at villages to welcome the participants as ground audience include urban & rural population of Shimla, Mandi, Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh.
The event included 5 categories, Open Men Solo, Open Women Solo, Open Masters (age 40 and above) Solo, Teams of two riders and Noncompetitive (Comfort) event. The minimum age for participation in any category is 18 years.
